Authentication Change for EFS-Web and PAIR

The deadline for migration from an old PKI certificate to a account is July 16. PKI authentication for EFS-Web and Private PAIR is permanently disabled.

Please ensure that you migrated the proper PKI to the correct account, or reverse incorrectly migrated accounts prior to July 16. Practitioners and independent inventors need a verified account to access EFS-Web for registered eFilers and Private PAIR. Support staff working on behalf of a practitioner needs to be sponsored to obtain access.

New customers, or customers who do not migrate by the migration deadline, can obtain a verified account using the new verification process. For more information on migrations and sponsorships, please see the Guide for Migration and the Sponsorship Tool Guide.

How does logging in with help you?

  • Eliminates shared credentials: practitioners no longer need to share accounts with support staff because they will all have their own accounts.
  • Modernizes security processes with two-step authentication: username and password plus a one-time code delivered by email, voice phone call or mobile device application.
  • Saves time by granting access to multiple USPTO systems with one consolidated sign-in process.
  • Ensures USPTO compliance with the latest Federal Information Security Management Act requirements.
  • Helps resolve browser compatibility issues.
  • Gives users access to EFS-Web and Private PAIR until the planned full release of Patent Center in 2020.
